On 9 January 2009 the Government presented a report to the Storting (Norwegian parliament) on long term perspectives for the Norwegian economy. The main objective of the Government’s economic policy is to contribute to high employment, sustainable development, fair distribution of income and well-functioning welfare schemes. This requires sound policies with emphasis on the handling of environmental challenges, long-term management of the national wealth and the development of a strong and sustainable public sector.
