The Right to Decide about One’s Own Life An Action Plan to Combat Negative Social Control, Forced Marriage and Female Genital Mutilation 2017-2020
This government action plan (2017–2020) sets out measures to combat negative social control, forced marriage and female genital mutilation in Norway. It defines five priority areas including legal protection, support for those who break contact with families, attitude change in affected communities, strengthening support services, and research and knowledge sharing. The plan assigns responsibilities across multiple ministries and includes measures for prevention, victim support, police and school involvement, and international cooperation. All measures are to be financed within the existing budgets of the responsible ministries.
