This working paper analyses how internal migration and emigration differ between immigrants and natives across rural and urban Norway using full-population panel register data and trinomial logit models with random effects. The study finds that immigrants are generally more mobile than natives both within Norway and abroad, though the propensity to move abroad is typically lower than to move to another Norwegian municipality. Patterns vary by centrality, employment status, family status and gender, with notable exceptions such as single unemployed immigrants in the Oslo area.
