Career Guidance and Career Learning Interventions in Education and Educational Transitions: A Scoping Review of Empirical Research (January 2014−April 2025)
This scoping review maps empirical outcome studies on career guidance and career learning in educational settings and key transition points from January 2014 to April 2025. Commissioned by the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research and HK-dir, the Knowledge Centre for Education at the University of Stavanger systematically searched international databases and coded included studies to characterize scope, methods, target groups, interventions and equity dimensions. Findings indicate a growing but geographically concentrated evidence base dominated by higher education contexts, quantitative designs, and research from English-speaking countries, with notable gaps for Nordic contexts, early schooling, workplace learning, and intersectional equity analyses. The review highlights areas suitable for further effectiveness reviews and priorities for Norwegian policy and research.
