In 2022, following a trial period that commenced in 2019, the Norwegian police officially adopted the use of rotor based unmanned aerial systems (UAS), also known as drones, on a national scale. This necessitated systematization of drone usage to ensure their effective deployment across a diverse range of tasks, including search and rescue (SAR) operations.
