Ondao Mobile School, Namibia A Socio-Economic Impact Study
This is the Final Report of a Socio-Economic Impact Study of the Ondao Mobile School Project in Kunene Region in Namibia. The project’s target group has been children of the Ovahimba and Ovazemba peoples with nomadic and semi-nomadic background. The project is an interesting example of nomadic education, and one worthy of study. The Report summarises the results of the fieldwork analyses. The Report concludes that, despite many practical difficulties, the School has been a success in achieving its main objectives, that is in providing basic education to the majority of the Ovahimba children, one of the most educationally marginalised groups in Namibia. It had done so by developing the school sensitively in line with local cultural traditions.
