Digitalisation of the Public Sector Key Results and Impact of the Research and Innovation Initiative 2020–2024

Between 2020 and 2024, NordForsk supported an initiative focusing on digitalisation in the public sector, funding six interdisciplinary research projects exploring different aspects of digital transformation in public services. The projects produced impactful outputs, addressing critical issues such as data harmonization, ethical use of digital police technologies, patient engagement in eHealth services, informal welfare work, co-designing public e-services, and participatory governance using digital tools. The initiative highlighted recurring themes: addressing digital inequalities, ensuring responsible governance, and supporting inclusive design—all instrumental for the ongoing digital transformation of public services in the Nordic region and beyond.
