Out of control How consumers are exploited by the online advertising industry
The report examines the pervasive tracking and profiling of consumers by the online advertising and adtech industry, demonstrating privacy infringements and breaches of European data protection law. Technical analysis of data transmissions from ten popular mobile apps revealed systemic oversharing of personal data to third parties involved in advertising and behavioral profiling. The report calls for stronger enforcement of GDPR and advocates for alternative advertising methods respecting consumers' fundamental rights.
