Movement patterns and diurnal activity of golden eagles in Norway : M-2937
The golden eagle is the only large raptor in Norway with a national monitoring program aimed at species conservation and management. Using GPS data from nine golden eagles, the report evaluates movement patterns, diurnal activity, and potential attraction to livestock areas. While territorial birds stayed within small areas year-round, non-territorial birds showed larger movements, including cross-border activity. The study found no strong evidence of attraction to livestock-rich areas during vulnerable periods. Efforts should focus on unbiased livestock loss estimates and mitigation.
