Review of PRIO’s Project "Gender, Conflict and Peacebuilding"
The Gender, Conflict and Peacebuilding project started in 2006 with funding from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and with the aim of filling a research and teaching gap in Norway on issues relating to the Women, Peace and Security agenda. Between 2006 and 2014 the project has received NOK 20.5 million. The project has not had an explicit long-term objective but has rather been financed by the MFA based on annual proposals listing planned activities to be carried out. As part of the review, the project team established the following objective for their project: “To integrate the gender perspective into peace and conflict research and to establish a national competency milieu for women, peace and security to consolidate knowledge and integrate UNSCR 1325 issues into Norwegian foreign policy so that Norway will contribute actively to the realization of the Women, Peace and Security agenda.”
